Berks Opera Orchestra Training (BOOT Camp)
In conjunction with and to heighten the artistic quality of its productions BOW has conducted a Berks Opera Orchestra Training (BOOT) camp for the past two years. This unique project has formalized training opportunities available to student instrumentalists who then play alongside professional musicians in the orchestra. The “Camp” is a two-day immersive music course in which student instrumentalists focused exclusively on mastery and performance of the opera score of the upcoming production. Our Puffin grant assisted in funding last year’s BOOT Camp to in preparation for our production of Carlyle Floyd’s Susannah. The BOOT Camp course produced a highly trained mixed student and professional orchestra. Susannah and was a major reason for this operas’ artistic and critical success.
